This cartridge’s bullet is a great example of the classic soft point. It provides terminal expansion because its gilding metal jacket does not cover its tip, which enables its soft lead core to flatten the bullet out during penetration. The tough jacket does help the bullet to remain mostly intact as it plows through tough muscle tissues, so you’ll get the deep penetration which knocks a medium quarry off of its hooves or trotters pronto.

This round’s 180 grain bullet is on the heavier end of the spectrum as far as the 308 is concerned, so it retains a little more downrange energy and also does a good job resisting wind deflection.
