This round certainly gives you the accuracy you need to home in on small game. Although it is light at 100 grains, the ELD-VT has the match AMP jacket and aerodynamic profile it needs to stay rotationally stable and conserve superior velocity downrange. Like the ELD and ELD-X before it, the ELD-VT features Hornady’s proprietary Heat Shield. The polymer tip is immune to the effects of aerodynamic heating, and therefore always keeps a perfectly symmetrical meplat trained on its target.
The ELD-VT’s polymer tip has a tail, but it is not seated in a nose cavity like the V-MAX’s tip. Instead it has to clear an air gap before colliding with the lead core, at which instant it forces the bullet to explode in an angry flurry of shrapnel. But even if you’re just firing for accuracy’s sake, the ELD-VT will not disappoint!
