This cartridge’s projectile features Hornady’s signature secant ogive profile. Its streamlined shape gives the 180 grain 0.452 G1 BC bullet the ability to conserve enough momentum to transfer over 1,000 ft lbs of kinetic energy to a deer standing up to 647 yards away. In other words, if you can shoot it, you can plant its nose into the field no problem.
The InterLock does not have a bonded core, but it has got a couple tricks up its sleeve to ensure that it penetrates deeply. Its copper jacket is embedded within its tough one-piece lead core in two separate places: the cannelure, and the raised InterLock ring. The InterLock’s jacket also becomes thinner towards its rim, which helps it split apart evenly as the soft core provides wide yet uniform terminal expansion. The InterLock will exhibit impressive terminal ballistics even over very long distances!
This ammo features Hornady’s first-class brass cases, as well as clean-igniting primers and powder that produce a steady 2,700 fps muzzle velocity out of a 24” barrel.
