Hornady’s Frontier label represents an exciting partnership between the old Nebraskan company and the United States’ largest ammunition manufacturer. Hornady crafted this ammo’s 55 grain full metal jacket bullets, which are precisely what you want for target shooting (and perhaps even varmint hunting) with any semi-automatic or bolt-action rifle. Each FMJ is 100% incapable of attracting a magnet, as well as thoroughly capable of maintaining a supersonic trajectory until it reaches around 700 yards (assuming it exits the same 24” barrel Hornady used to capture its 3,240 fps muzzle velocity).
The Lake City Army Ammunition Plant took care of everything outside of the bullets. These rounds’ military-grade brass cases are outfitted with noncorrosive Boxer primers, fresh out of the factory, and the very definition of reloadable. The grayness around the cases’ shoulders only indicates that they were correctly heat-treated for added durability; not that they were previously fired and reloaded.
